Samuels Recycling Company was established in 1896 in Portage, WI and was acquired by
Alter Trading Corporation in December of 2006. Initially, this facility was started as
a support yard and major scrap supplier to Waupaca Foundry in 1995 but has grown to
also become a full-service scrap operation. The Waupaca facility sits on 15.5 acres
of land, has one of the largest inventories of 3" steel around the state and with a
multiple track rail system, they have the ability to unload up to 15 rail cars per
shift for processing. The manned or remote controlled track mobile moves rail cars
anywhere in the yard to efficiently process material.
Samuels/Waupaca facility recycles all grades of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and
serves the general public, commercial, industrial and municipal accounts. The Samuels'
program of continuing education and cross-training for employees ensures quality
customer service 24/7. Capabilities include:
- Rail scale and truck scale equipped with radiation monitors (monitors all materials before loading or unloading)
- 6 material handlers
- Multiple trucks, trailers and lugger boxes
- Variety of non-ferrous processing capabilities
The Waupaca metal recycling facility proudly supports the community and various
charities through the giving of time, energy and funding. We proudly support The Lions
and the Waupaca Police Department.
