Previously operated as Ben Shemper & Sons, Inc., this facility has been predominantly serving southeastern Mississippi since 1905. Alter Metal Recycling added this location to its family of yards in May 2007, and along with it retained members of the Shemper family to stay on in management. A leader in both nonferrous and ferrous scrap processing in the area, Alter Hattiesburg also operates a number of mobile automobile demanufacturing crews that move scrap to various mills throughout the southeast.

From "walk-in" traffic to dealer scrap to the full-servicing of industrial accounts via full container service, Alter Hattiesburg provides all of its suppliers with access to the strongest markets throughout the world as evident in its competitive pricing. To match, Alter Hattiesburg also provides its suppliers with the most attentive pick-up service.

Pick-up service can be arranged on an as needed basis 7 days a week. Alter Hattiesburg is conveniently located approximately 3 miles from both U.S. Highway 49 (North/South from Gulfport, MS to Piggott, AR) and Interstate 59 (North/South from Slidell, LA to Wildwood, GA), and approximately 7 miles from U.S. Highway 98 (East/West from Palm Beach, FL to Washington, MS).
